Position Title: MOV Repair Technician I

Location: Lewisville, TX

Reports To: Valve Services Manager


General Description:
Vinson Process Controls Company, L.P., is a leading distributor of industrial process control equipment, systems, and service provider in the southwest region of the US including North, East, and West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico.

Vinson is entering a new market within the service organization focusing on the repair Motor Operated Valves (MOVs) and is looking to fill the role of Motor Operated Valve Technician I. This position will assist the Vinson Service Manager in establishing Vinson as the premier MOV repair company within our territory. This individual will also assist in developing goals and deadlines for the MOV repair team and ensure quality repairs with the highest level of customer satisfaction.

This position entails a high degree of customer interaction, and will be deeply imbedded in Vinson’s sales process; consequently candidates must possess good people skills as well as the ability to be self driven and reliable. Experience with electrical troubleshooting is a must. Experience in a process industry, such as Power Generation, Refining, Oil & Gas, Chemical, etc., good mechanical intuition, and prior experience with Valve Actuation are all a plus.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Electrical troubleshooting and repair of electrical circuits within MOV’s, with and without the use of wiring diagrams.
• Megger motors checking for grounds/faults
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair of MOV drive trains and gearboxes, including replacement of gears, bearings, etc.
• Research and develop required parts list for Insides Sales to quote repair
• Clean, sandblast, and paint MOV housings when required.
• Remove/Install actuators on valves including testing and setting of limit and torque switches.
• Coordinate repairs based upon requirements from the customer and Vinson scheduling.
• Fill out comprehensive repair reports describing the “As Found” condition, recommended repairs, etc.
• Recognize, pursue, and secure opportunities to increase the scope of work and products sold when ever possible.

Education, Skills and/or Experience:
• Minimum of two (2) years “hands on” experience in a process industry or electrical troubleshooting role.
• Good Mechanical Intuition
• Ability to thrive in high pressure situations
• Good organizational skills, and willingness to complete required paperwork such as repair reports, timesheets, etc.
• Excellent Communication and People skills
• General competency with computers and specific experience with MS Excel and Word are required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Physical and Mental:
• Ability to stand/walk for an entire work day.
• Ability to climb multiple ladders and stairways throughout a work day.
• Ability to travel via air and/or ground transportation as requested by company per assignment
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
• Hand/eye coordination, manual dexterity
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment if requested by customer or required by safety policies
